One groups that has taken the gospel
industry by storm is Maximum Melodies. Their single "Mwamba" released in
2004 became an instant hit due to the dancable track and the catchy
lyrics. This was produced by arguably Nairobi's fastest rising producer
Gideon Kimanzi who is behind other tracks like Davie's Nisaidie, Kiki's
Niongoze and Holy Batallion's Upendo wa Ajabu. Maximum Melodies has
received accolades from the Kenyan Music community (both secular and
gospel) as witnessed by their crowning of the Most Promising Artistes at
the just concluded Kisima Awards. They are also up for nomination in
the Groove Awards and that is not all for them.
DJ Fresh asks the group leader, Andrew Young about this
talented individuals comprising Maximum Melodies.
DJ: When did the group start?
Andrew: Maximum Melodies started in
1997.
DJ: How did that come about?
Andrew: They were children from a
very poor back ground and no one had any hope for them in future.
DJ: Who supports the group?
Andrew: They are under the umbrella
of Maximum Miracle Centre; a church pastored by Mr & Mrs Muiru who
have supported and continue supporting their vision.
DJ: Where are they performing next?
Andrew: This August they will be
performing at the Extreme Weekend where Chevelle Franklyn will be the
main artiste. They will also dance for Lukus Simari from the USA.
DJ: Anything else you'd let us know?
Andrew: Maximum Melodies have now
released an album with seven tracks. They also have made a video
available on VHS, DVD & VCD. They have also entered for the Kora
Awards in South Africa where they are praying to God that they win. It
is the Holy Spirit who is their helper and Ebenezer is their God; this
far the Lord has brought us.To God be the glory.
DJ Note: Look out for the group doing it big this
year.
